Maryland private equity firm connected to Hudson Automotive buys from Reed family

authors William Williams

A private equity firm connected to a South Carolina-based automotive dealership establishing a strong local presence has paid $3.56 million for an Antioch property, with the seller an entity affiliated with Nashville’s Reed family.

According to a Davidson County Register of Deeds document, Hanover, Maryland-based Redwood Capital Investments now owns the property, located at 5300 and 5312 Mount View Road.

Billionaire Jim Davis oversees Redwood, which in late 2020 paid $6.9 million for the South Nashville property to which Charleston-based Hudson Automotive will locate in the future (read more here). Davis is co-founder of Allegis Group, which bills itself as the largest staffing firm in the U.S., with cousin Steve Bisciotti, the majority owner of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.

The seller of the Antioch property was Good Horse LLC. That entity previously had been called Broadway Realty Company, which was created by the late Jim Reed III. Broadway Realty also owns multiple Midtown parcels from which Nashville Hyundai and Nashville Subaru operate and that are slated to be sold to Houston-based developer Hines (read here). Broadway Realty acquired the two just-sold Antioch properties in 1985 for $919,960, according to Metro records.

Nelson Mazda auto dealership once operated from the two Mount View Road properties.

The Post was unable to determine if brokers were involved in the Antioch transaction and if Hudson Automotive will eventually have a presence on the property.
