SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Attempted robbery: Norwood Road
At 10 p.m. March 30, a South Euclid woman, 65, reported that two hooded and masked male suspects, one armed with a handgun, pointed the gun at her and ordered her to get out of her car. The car was parked at the time in the 3000 block of Norwood Road, adjacent to St. Dominic’s Church, 19000 Van Aken Blvd.
The woman reported that the crime took place at 7 p.m., and said that she did not comply and that the suspects were unsuccessful in their attempt to steal her car. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing as the suspects remain at large.
Warrant arrest: Van Aken Boulevard
At 10:40 p.m. March 26, an officer stopped a car that did not have its headlights activated. It was then found that the driver, a Richmond Heights man, 24, was wanted on a Richmond Heights police warrant for larceny. Police detained the man and turned him over to the RHPD.
Fraud: Norwood Road
At 8:15 a.m. March 28, a Shaker Heights woman, 56, reported that she had received a call from a male suspect who identified himself as a police officer and told her that because she had failed to respond to a federal subpoena, she was being fined $5,000 that could be paid via gift cards.
The woman purchased the gift cards and gave the numbers on the gift cards to the caller. She went on to learn that she had not been fined, nor subpoenaed.
Domestic violence: Lynnfield Road
At 12:15 a.m. March 27, police were called to the 3000 block of Lynnfield Road where officers learned that a Shaker Heights woman, 53, during an argument, had been pushed and dragged by her son, 31. The woman was also injured by a car driven by her ex-husband, a Cleveland man, 53.
The suspects left the area before police arrived and are being sought.
Auto theft: Van Aken Boulevard
At 9:15 a.m. March 28, a Shaker Heights woman, 28, reported that someone had stolen her car, which had been parked the night before, unlocked, in the 15000 block of Van Aken Boulevard.
Menacing: Chagrin Boulevard
At 7:15 p.m. March 28, a Cleveland woman, 57, who works for DoorDash reported that a 25-year-old employee of Subway threatened to harm her as she waited to pick up an order.
Warrant arrest: Warrensville Center Road
At 3:15 p.m. March 29, police learned through an automatic license plate reader that the owner of a 2019 white Kia that was being operated in the area of Chagrin Boulevard and Warrensville Center Road, was wanted by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office for larceny and theft offenses.
Officers located the vehicle, confirmed that the owner, a Cleveland woman, 50, was driving, and arrested her. The woman was turned over to Cuyahoga County deputies.
Felonious assault: Fairhill Road
At 6:30 a.m. April 1, police were summoned to University Hospitals where a Shaker Heights man, 20, reported that an unknown suspect had cut his arm while he was brushing snow off his vehicle while in the 12000 block of Fairhill Road. Police are investigating.
