BRIDGEPORT — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a car they say was used in a shooting at an Auto Zone Thursday evening.
The shooting left a 27-year-Derby man with multiple gunshot wounds to the arm and abdomen. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to police.
On Saturday, police released a portion of video they said captured the suspect vehicle involved in the incident.
The 49-second clip of surveillance footage shows the car, a dark-colored coupe that appears to have tinted windows, drive slowly through the lot. The clip does not appear to show the gunfire, and the driver is not visible through the car’s glass.
Police were notified of the incident around 7:32 p.m. when officers were called to the Auto Zone at 300 North Ave. in Bridgeport for a report of a person shot.
Police found the victim and helped him be taken to the hospital. By 10 p.m. Thursday, the streets were reopened as officers cleared the crime scene. City police detectives are investigating the shooting.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Detective Migdalia Ayala at 203-581-5201 or utilize the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS .
