WEST SPRINGFIELD — Some of the hottest cars to hit the East Coast rolled into Eastern States Exposition on Saturday for East Coast Auto Expo 2021.
Low-slung sports cars ruled the day, with plenty of custom entries featuring elaborate paint jobs dominating the floor inside the the Better Living Center and outdoors.
“It is a charity-based event, helping to raise money for Autism Speaks,” said event director Juan Vargas. The organization is the largest autism research organization in the United States. It sponsors autism research and conducts awareness and outreach activities aimed at families, governments and the public.
“It’s something good we’re giving back to the community,” Vargas said. He added that the show is his first at The Big E, and it drew participants from as far away as New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Visitors were treated to competitions, free giveaways and special guests, in addition to live music, custom trophies and food trucks.
Live music was provided by Cassie’s Crutch, with additional entertainment provided by DJ Craig G., with visuals and sound production by Team Ragoza.
The Auto Expo continues on Sunday at 1305 Memorial Ave., West Springfield. Admission is $15, with children under 12 admitted free, and is divided into three slots: 10 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 3 p.m., and 3 to 6 p.m.
