Hello Auto Group, a Valencia-based company, has bought two longstanding Temecula dealerships owned by John Hine for undisclosed terms.
The deals closed Oct. 4, according to Karl Schmidt, president of Hello Auto.
The pair have known each other for two decades, said John Hine, president of John Hine Mazda and Subaru.
“We are like-minded in our commitment to the customer experience and the belief that high levels of customer satisfaction can only be achieved through employee satisfaction,” Hine said in a statement.
Hello Auto Group said it intends to maintain all of Hines’ employees at the Temecula locations.
Casino hiring events are virtual
More hiring events are planned at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel in Highland.
The two-day virtual event is slated for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 18-19 and will have on-the-spot job interviews.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians in late September changed the casino complex’s name ahead of the December debut of its new luxury hotel and resort.
“Yaamava’ is a native Serrano word which means spring, a time for growth and rebirth,” Afsi Bird, vice president of hotel operations.
Like many other employers across Southern California, it has struggled to hire during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Senior complex sold in Corona
River Run Senior, a 360-unit affordable apartment complex in Corona, has been acquired by Avanath Capital Management.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed by Avanath.
The age-restricted community at 863 River Road was built in 2004, and includes six three-story garden-style buildings over 216,684 square feet. Each apartment averages 602 square feet. The complex offers a a mix of 306 one-bedroom and 54 two-bedroom apartments.
In-unit amenities include air conditioning, a dishwasher, vinyl plank flooring, walk-in closets, and private balconies/patios. Common amenities include a community center, business center, pool, elevator service, laundry rooms in each building, and a gated entry.
River Run will be managed by Avanath Communities, which also manages 10 other properties the firm owns in Southern California. COVID-19 protocols at the senior community include closed common-area amenities and hand-sanitizing stations throughout the property – as appropriate to ensure residents of River Run remain safe and healthy, said John R. Williams, president and CIO of Avanath Capital Management.
The facilities also will get mechanical systems upgrades, new roofs, HVAC systems, a new maintenance shop and new security cameras near access gates.
Ontario shopping center sells for $40.1M
The retail shopping center Ontario Gateway has been sold for $40.1 million to JH Real Estate Partners, according to the brokerage Newmark Knight Frank.
The center on Ontario Mills Parkway is home to Ross, Big Lots, Jo-Ann, Dollar Tree, David’s Bridal, Turner Outdoorsman and Grocery Outlet. So-called outparcels are leased to IHOP, Outback Steakhouse and Tokyo Wako.
Newmark’s Bill Bauman and Kyle Miller represented the seller, Zelman Development Co.
“Its location directly across from the iconic Ontario Mills Mall creates a significantly expanded trade area, enhancing the appeal of this asset,” said Bauman.
Riverside industrial buildings sell to Atlanta firm
Two industrial business parks with a combined 210,657 square feet in Riverside have been sold to an Atlanta-based investment firm.
MDH Partners acquired MS Northgate and MS Van Buren I from Silagi Development & Management.
No terms of the sale were provided.
MDH Partners said the deal represents its first expansion into California.
Mario Calvillo at Lee & Associates’ Riverside Office represented Silagi.
Georga Rowe at MDH Partners sourced the deal for the firm and led the acquisition process.
MS Northgate is a two-building property built in 2017 at the corner of Marlborough Avenue and Northgate Street in the Hunter Park neighborhood of Riverside. Just 10 miles south of MS Northgate is MS Van Buren I on nearly 12 acres at the corner of Van Buren Boulevard and Meridian Parkway. Van Buren I has 147,612-square-foot in three buildings.
Tenants at MS Northgate include Kawneer Co., a maker of architectural aluminum systems. At Van Buren I, tenants include packaging maker Saveway Supplies, Elevate Fulfillment, an e-commerce and order fulfillment warehouse and Carpenter & Black Smith Furniture.
Yucca retail pad sells for $2M
A 6,518 square-foot retail strip mall in Yucca Valley has been sold for $2 million in a 1031 exchange, according to Progressive Real Estate Partners.
The retail pad at 58132 Twentynine Palms Highway is leased to Gamestop, Verizon Wireless and Metro PCS and is adjacent to a Stater Bros.-anchored shopping center.
Greg Bedell at Progressive represented the seller, and Victor Buendia represented the buyer. Both of the investors were unidentified but reps said the seller was from Northern California and the buyer is local to the Inland Empire and owns other Yucca Valley properties.
Grant money for smoke alarms
Some 1,650 mobile home and low-income housing units in Rancho Cucamonga will get new smoke alarms thanks to an $86,500 grant for the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District.
Rep. Pete Aguilar, a member of the on the House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee, secured the grant money.
Rancho Cucamonga Fire Chief Ivan Rojer said the grant ultimately will help save lives in the community.
“We truly appreciate the collaboration and support from our federal partners in helping us make our Rancho Cucamonga community safer,” Rojer said.
IE attorneys join OC firm
The San Clemente-based law firm Gilson Daub has hired two attorneys who will represent the firm from its Inland Empire office in Corona.
Giselle Valles joins the team as a trial attorney from Stander, Reubens, Thomas, and Kinsey where she served as an associate attorney of workers’ compensation defense for two years.
Lee Dua also will serve as a trial attorney out of the firm’s Inland Empire office. He joins Gilson Daub from the Riverside Legal Aid Clinic where he was a per diem attorney.
