Police Reports: More cars reported stolen from Fields Auto Group; multiple thefts by deception | The Record - The Record North Shore

These reports were pulled from police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe) during the week of Sunday-Saturday, July 11-17.

WILMETTE

There was one incident of Illinois Department of Employment Services — later referred to as IDES — fraud filed between July 2-9 in Wilmette.

July 15

• A window was reportedly damaged at Harper School, 1101 Dartmouth St.

July 13

• A biked that was reportedly unlocked was taken from the Community Recreation Center, 3000 Glenview Road.

July 12

• Personal items were reported stolen from the Gillson Park sailing beach, 700 Michigan Ave.

July 9

• A caller reportedly told a resident that he/she was from LifeLock and the resident was owed a refund. The resident provided the caller information from his/her bank, computer and purchased gift cards. The amount of the loss is unknown.

• A resident reportedly received a text message from a sender purporting to be from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office. The text contained a link reportedly to renew the resident’s driver’s license. The resident

KENILWORTH

There was one incident of IDES fraud filed between July 14 in Kenilworth.

July 10

• A bike, worth $250, left overnight July 9-10 was stolen from Joseph Sears School, 542 Abbotsford Road.

WINNETKA

July 10

• A resident was reportedly phoned by someone claiming to be from Apple support. The resident was deceived into sending $5,000 to offset what they thought was fraudulent activity.

July 8

• A resident reported an individual entered the house in the 800 block of Prospect Avenue through a window at 11 p.m.

July 6

• A catalytic converter was reportedly stolen from a car in the 1000 block of Elm Street overnight.

• A resident reported that on May 15 they were contacted by an individual purporting to be from Instagram who requested funds for verification. The loss was reportedly $300.

GLENCOE

There was one incident of IDES fraud filed on July 12 in Glencoe.

July 11

• A bicycle was reported stolen from the 600 block of Greenwood between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. The bike was reportedly worth $300.

July 8

• A resident reported giving their personal information over the telephone, thinking they were speaking to a Facebook representative. There was no reported financial loss.

NORTHFIELD

There was one incident of IDES fraud filed on July 5 in Northfield.

July 11

• More than $350 worth of alcohol was reportedly stolen at around 5:50 p.m. from Mariano’s, 1822 Willow Road.

July 8

• Three vehicles — two 2017 Jaguars and one 2018 Land Rover — were reportedly stolen at 1:32 a.m. from Fields Land Rover, 670 W. Frontage Road. Two of the cars were reportedly later discovered in Chicago. The theft occurred two weeks after another reported car theft of a Fields property. On June 21, five cars were reported stolen from Fields BMW, 700 Frontage Road. According to police, a window was broken to gain entry in both incidents.

July 8

• A home in the 2100 block of Northgate was reportedly burglarized between 3:45-5:30 p.m.

July 7

• Two reports of identity theft were filed for unauthorized loans from the Small Business Administration reportedly taken out in residents’ names.

• A pair of sunglasses valued at $440 was reportedly stolen from Wanderlust Eyecare, 1745 Orchard Lane.
